The temporary registration system for mobile devices belonging to overseas Pakistanis and foreign nationals is now fully operational, enabling travelers to use their cell phones for a specific period upon entering Pakistan.

Under the Temporary Registration Facilitation, individuals can benefit from tax-free registration of their personal mobile phones for up to 3 months during their visit. In a recent update, the regulatory body announced that Overseas Pakistanis and foreign nationals can register their mobile phones for 120 days from their date of arrival in the country.

To avail these services, applicants are advised to apply using their own credentials such as Passport, CNIC, or NICOP. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has shared the DIRBS system procedure for utilizing the Temporary Registration Facilitation system.

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to register mobile phones without paying PTA tax:

  • Visit dirbs.pta.gov.pk/drs
  • Go to signup and create account.

  • Select the option for Temporary Registration and continue.

  • Complete the form by entering your personal details, including the password, and then click on the submit button. Ensure that the information provided matches the details used during the immigration process.

  • Upon submission, you will receive both an email and SMS for verification. Follow the link provided in the SMS or email to activate your account.

  • Follow the provided procedure on the DIRBS platform to complete the Temporary Registration Facilitation process.
  • By following these steps, individuals can enjoy the convenience of using their mobile phones in Pakistan without the burden of PTA taxes for the specified temporary period.

Provide your ID card number or Passport number, along with the entry date and date of departure. Enter the mobile network operator information and submit to generate a six-digit OTP. Enter this OTP in the designated section to activate your account.
