Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed optimism over recent developments in the Gaza conflict, calling Hamas’s response to the U.S.-backed ceasefire proposal a “positive and hopeful sign” toward ending months of violence.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the prime minister wrote:
“Alhamdolillah, we are closer to a ceasefire than we have been since this genocide was launched on the Palestinian people. Pakistan has always stood by the Palestinian people and shall always do so.”
He added that Hamas’s statement “creates a window for a ceasefire and ensuring peace that we must not allow to close again,” stressing the need to protect that opportunity.
PM Shehbaz also praised the diplomatic efforts of key regional and international partners, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, and Indonesia, who have played crucial roles in mediating talks and pushing for a lasting ceasefire.
PM Shehbaz concluded by reiterating that Pakistan will continue to stand with Palestine, both diplomatically and morally, in its struggle for freedom and justice. Pakistan’s Consistent Stance on Palestine
