Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Manama, the capital of Bahrain, on Wednesday for a two-day official visit aimed at boosting bilateral ties and expanding cooperation across multiple sectors.
According to Pakistan Television (PTV), the premier was warmly received at the Manama airport by top Bahraini leadership, including Crown Prince and Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Deputy PM Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, and other senior officials.
The Pakistani delegation accompanying PM Shehbaz includes Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Minister of State for Railways Bilal Azhar Kayani, and other senior government representatives.
During his visit from November 26 to 27, PM Shehbaz is scheduled to hold a series of high-level meetings with Bahrain’s top leadership. These engagements will include meetings with King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad, and Deputy PM Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah.
State media highlighted that the visit reflects the longstanding cordial relations between Pakistan and Bahrain and is expected to promote a results-oriented and strategic partnership between the two nations.
The visit aims to strengthen traditional ties, explore new sectors of cooperation, and enhance people-to-people connections, contributing to deeper mutual collaboration.
Last month, both countries agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation during the inaugural meeting of the Pakistan-Bahrain Parliamentary Friendship Group. They also decided to form a joint working group to expand cooperation in fields such as counter-narcotics, counterterrorism, border security, coastguard operations, immigration, and police training.
Additionally, both sides discussed signing MoUs on extradition, mutual legal assistance, and specialized battalion training.
Earlier in September, Pakistan and Bahrain also agreed to deepen cooperation in counterterrorism, anti-narcotics, and immigration management following a meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Bahraini Interior Minister Gen Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.
