Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Tuesday said that every effort is being made to host Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 matches at the Muzaffarabad Cricket Stadium in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. He added that the venue is also being prepared to host international matches in the future.

Naqvi made these remarks while presiding over a meeting of the PCB Board of Governors (BoG) via video link. During the session, he also revealed plans to construct a state-of-the-art cricket stadium in Islamabad, according to a PCB handout.

Earlier, the PCB officially announced the window for the 11th edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League, confirming that the tournament will run from March 26 to May 3, 2026. The board termed the confirmation a key milestone as preparations begin for the next phase of the league’s expansion.

As part of the expansion, the PCB will hold an auction for two new PSL franchises on January 8 next year at the Islamabad Convention Centre. The auction will offer ownership rights for the league’s new teams, further expanding the PSL footprint.

During the BoG meeting, approval was granted for the second phase of reconstruction of the National Bank Stadium in Karachi. The board also decided to upgrade the Lahore City Cricket Association (LCCA) Ground, with plans to redevelop it on the pattern of London’s iconic Oval cricket ground. The project received formal approval from the board.

BoG members praised Chairman Naqvi and his team for successfully organizing PSL roadshows in London and New York. The meeting also passed a resolution of gratitude acknowledging Naqvi’s personal efforts in ensuring the smooth continuation of the recent Sri Lanka tour.

Addressing the board, Naqvi said that the success of the PSL roadshows and the Sri Lanka tour was a collective achievement. He emphasized that the PCB team worked with sincerity and tireless dedication to strengthen PSL’s image as a global cricket brand.

The board was informed that a well-known private firm has begun scrutinizing regional cricket clubs to improve governance and standards. PSL CEO Salman Naseer briefed the meeting on the PSL roadshows, while members were also updated on upcoming ICC women’s and men’s cricket tournaments.

The session also discussed measures to strengthen the domestic cricket structure and increase grassroots-level matches across the country. The meeting was attended by senior BoG members, PCB officials, and representatives from various departments.
