Pakistan Railways lease over 4,500 acres land to generate revenue

Pakistan Railways has leased out over 4,578 acres of its land to transform the department into profitable entity by generating more revenue.

Ministry of Railways spokesman told APP that the leased-out land is located in seven divisions, including Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Rawalpindi, Multan and Sukkur.

He also divulged details of a plan, aimed at exploiting commercially 25 mega sites of Pakistan Railways under public-private partnership.

To a question, the official said Pakistan Railways has also decided to accelerate its ongoing anti-encroachment operation against land grabbers across the country to retrieve its lands and it has so far recovered over 508 acres of precious land worth billion of rupees.
