The Pak-UAE Business Council (PUBC) of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has announced a new round of initiatives to boost bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

On Monday during its inaugural meeting, Chairman Diwan Fakhruddin said that Pakistan’s relations with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were strong and trade played a major role in this regard. “Now, we need to create a new roadmap to meet the changing needs of the UAE market so as to increase both our exports and imports.”

He also emphasised that the companies doing business in the UAE had to ensure quality and position themselves in building the ‘Brand Pakistan’ to effectively compete and enhance Pakistan’s market share in the UAE. The FPCCI played a major role in Pakistan’s economy as export trade was the backbone. Hence, PUBC would play an effective role by creating awareness and motivating FPCCI members to tap the emerging opportunities in the UAE, particularly in food and technology, Fakhruddin added.

The meeting decided to set up a help desk of PUBC, which would provide all the information and assistance to the Pakistani companies wanting to do business in the UAE.

It was agreed to form a team to analyze the trade data between the UAE and Pakistan in order to derive necessary business intelligence to create a new roadmap for enhancing trade between the two countries. It was decided that for building the ‘Brand Pakistan’ in UAE, workshops and online seminars would be held to maximize opportunities arising from Expo 2021.
