Thousands of Microsoft 365 users experienced service interruptions on Thursday, as reported by outage monitoring platform Downdetector. The disruption affected multiple services within the productivity suite, prompting Microsoft to take action.
Outage Details and User Reports
At its peak, Downdetector recorded over 15,880 user reports of issues with Microsoft 365 around 6:03 p.m. ET. This number later decreased to nearly 3,960 reports. It is important to note that Downdetector collects data from user-submitted reports, so the actual number of affected users may vary.
Microsoft’s Response and Investigation
Microsoft acknowledged the disruption and indicated that it was rebalancing traffic across the affected infrastructure to mitigate the problem. The company is investigating a potential issue within a segment of its North American service infrastructure, which is reportedly not processing traffic as expected.
Efforts to resolve the issue are ongoing, with Microsoft providing updates through its official status channels.
