KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi Continues Sindh Visit with Hyderabad Stop on Second Day

Karachi, January 10, 2026: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi embarked on a key journey to Hyderabad on Saturday, marking the second day of his ongoing Sindh visit. The trip is part of a wider campaign aimed at mobilizing public support for a nationwide street movement slated for February 8—an anniversary of general elections disputed by opposition parties amid accusations of rigging.

Purpose and Itinerary

  • Having arrived in Karachi earlier on Friday, Afridi’s visit to Sindh spans four days focused on increasing grassroots momentum ahead of the protests.
  • On Saturday, PTI Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh announced the departure from Karachi around noon, expressing optimism for a strong mass turnout in Hyderabad comparable to Karachi’s.
  • Activities scheduled for Hyderabad include:
    • Addressing the local press club
    • Participating in the Insaf Students Federation convention
    • Engaging in street movement initiatives
    • Plans were also made for a speech at the Hyderabad High Court Bar Association, although the HCBA later denied authorizing Afridi’s visit and address, clarifying that an invitation extended by their general secretary was not officially sanctioned.

Reactions and Public Response

Before leaving Karachi, CM Afridi expressed gratitude for the enthusiastic reception across various districts and emphasized the importance of an upcoming rally at Mazar-i-Quaid scheduled for Sunday. He underscored that the event must be a success to send a clear message affirming Karachi’s allegiance with former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his political movement.

KP Local Government Minister Meena Khan Afridi shared glimpses of their departure alongside Afridi, Sheikh, and PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja, underscoring the momentum building in Sindh.

The PTI’s Sindh chapter also highlighted the Sindh United Party’s readiness to support Afridi’s visit. Supporters from the Hyderabad Youth Wing were seen preparing enthusiastically to welcome the chief minister at the Hyderabad Insaf House.

Additional Stops and Activities

  • The convoy is set to visit nearby Jamshoro and Kotri, extending outreach in the region.
  • Earlier, prominent PTI leaders and supporters gathered at Karachi’s Hassan Square to start their journey with Afridi, recording statements emphasizing their commitment to defending Sindh’s farmers and advocating freedom.

Statements from PTI Leaders

Salman Akram Raja, PTI Secretary General, urged the citizens of Sindh to join the large rally at Bagh-i-Jinnah near Mazar-i-Quaid, scheduled for Sunday afternoon. He emphasized this event as a demonstration against the detention of PTI leaders and violations of privacy, rallying people to stand firm against oppression.

Raja highlighted the party’s wide-reaching allegiance, calling PTI and Imran Khan the future of Pakistan and portraying their members as patriots dedicated to protecting all provinces and regions of the country.

Looking Ahead

According to a schedule released by the PTI, Chief Minister Afridi will also meet with Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Monday, January 12, to further his engagements in the province.
