For the Rabi season, the Federal Cabinet has authorized the import of 300,000 metric tonnes of urea. The Federal Cabinet approved these suggestions made by the Ministry of Industrial Production at its meeting on Wednesday in Islamabad, which was presided over by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The task of importing the goods under the Government to Government mode has been given to the Trading Corporation of Pakistan.

A steering committee composed of representatives from all pertinent federal departments and provincial administrations, including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir under the Living Indus Initiative, was also approved by the cabinet. In order to raise awareness at the grassroots level, it placed focus on incorporating the project into the curricula of schools and institutions. The suggested actions under the Living Indus Initiative will provide infrastructure development and adaptation for future climate change protection of natural resources and commercial activities connected to the River Indus and its tributaries.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his gratitude to BISP for providing fifty billion rupees to two million flood-affected families at the time. Additionally, he instructed the Sindh Government and other relevant organizations to develop a comprehensive plan and take effective action to dewater the province’s flooded regions. The cabinet was informed that France will be providing more water pumps in this regard. The Prime Minister and the cabinet then expressed their gratitude to the French people, their government, and their ambassador to Pakistan.
