45,000 Google scholarships for Pakistani students this year

Syed Aminul Haq, Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications, announced an arrangement with Google for 45,000 scholarships, which will be increased to 450,000 next year.

According to the state news agency, at least 40% of Google’s scholarships will be for women.

On Friday, he spoke at the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry’s (KATI) Startups for Industries and IT Exports conference.

According to the Minister, Google Strong initially provided only 15,000 scholarships last year, but these were raised following consultation.

According to the Federal IT Minister, a $1.6 million building for gaming and animation has been created at NED University to further promote and strengthen this industry.

The event was attended by dignitaries such as KATI Vice Patron Zubair Chhaya, Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan, Senior Vice President Nighat Awan, Chairperson of Standing Committee Maheen Salman, Former President Saleem-Uz-zaman, Masood Naqi, Razzaq Hashim Paracha, Ehtishamuddin, experts from universities, National Incubation Centres, students, teachers, and start-ups.

Federal Minister Aminul Haque further stated that the IT Ministry is working on a 2050 vision. Pakistan received $ 75 million in funding until 2020, which grew to $373 million by 2021. Similarly, he stated that the regulatory duty on mobile has been repealed as of March 30 as a result of the Ministry’s efforts.

According to the Federal IT Minister, when he took over the ministry, he quickly established a mobile phone manufacturing policy to establish a mobile phone manufacturing industry in the country, and therefore mobile phone production began within a few months.

Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan, the former chairman of KATI, has stated that entrepreneurs and startups are working very hard, but there is no need for large investments in startups nowadays.

He stated that research and development play a significant part in information technology. Right now, startups are performing an excellent job that is desperately required in the sector.

According to Zubair Chhaya, Deputy Patron of KATI, when Federal Minister Aminul Haq took office, IT exports were at $ 1 billion, but by the conclusion of the past fiscal year, exports had increased to $ 2.6 billion.

He expressed satisfaction that Pakistan’s IT exports have increased, noting that the neighboring country’s exports totaled $149 billion last year.

In his speech, Mahin Salman stated that efforts are being made to prepare such curricula in professional educational institutions that are required in the industry. Previously, people obtained a huge number of degrees but did not find work. In conjunction with the industry, efforts are now being made to provide professional training that meets the needs of the current day.

She went on to say that the startups that exist now were only projects last year that were successfully launched today.

Speaking on the occasion, Senior Vice President of KATI Nighat Awan urged for the abolition of duties on machinery and products used in the IT sector so that the sector can expand further in the country.
