Taiwan: First to Grant Free WiFi Country-Wide

Taiwan is first ever country of the world to grant free WiFi to its public and even foreigners.

Taiwan govt backed free “iTaiwan” wireless network launched in 2011, and now has about 15,000+ hotspots in major tourist spots, transportation hubs, cultural establishments and government offices all over the island country.

Citizens of taiwan only need their local phone number to register with the WiFi and then use the 10-20 MBPS speed wireless network service anywhere in the country.
