India wrapped up a commanding 2–0 Test series win over the West Indies, marking Shubman Gill’s first triumph as captain and a promising start to his leadership career. The final Test, played at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, ended with India clinching victory by seven wickets, sealing a perfect home series performance.

After resuming the chase on Day 5 at 63/1, India needed just 58 more runs to secure the win. KL Rahul anchored the innings with a fluent 58 not out, striking the winning boundary to complete the chase of 121 runs. Captain Shubman Gill managed 13 runs before falling early, but his composure and tactical leadership throughout the series were widely praised by fans and analysts alike.

In the second Test, India’s dominance began with a mammoth 518/5 declared, powered by Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 175 and Gill’s unbeaten 129. The West Indies replied with 269 in their first innings and 390 in the second, bolstered by centuries from John Campbell and Shai Hope. Despite their resistance, India’s spin attack, led by Kuldeep Yadav, proved too strong. Kuldeep claimed eight wickets in the match and finished the series with 12 scalps, while Mohammed Siraj contributed 10 wickets.

India’s coach Gautam Gambhir lauded Gill’s leadership, saying he had “passed his toughest test” and earned his captaincy through merit, not favoritism. Reflecting on the achievement, Gill described leading India as “a huge honor” and credited the team’s unity for their success.

The series victory highlights India’s depth and consistency and ushers in a new era under Gill’s captaincy, as the young leader begins to shape a team blending emerging talent with experienced stars.
