Saudi Arabia aims to strengthen its parliamentary and economic ties with Pakistan and has offered technological assistance to Pakistan’s National Assembly, stated Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Sheikh, Chairman of Saudi Arabia’s Shura Council, during his three-day visit to Islamabad.

Dr. Al Sheikh’s visit included high-profile meetings with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistan’s parliamentary leaders. Prime Minister Sharif described Saudi Arabia as a “vital pillar” of Pakistan’s foreign policy, reflecting the longstanding alliance between the two nations.

Parliamentary Collaboration
In discussions with National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Senate Chairman Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, Dr. Al Sheikh highlighted Saudi Arabia’s commitment to Pakistan’s prosperity and development.

Speaker Sadiq emphasized the importance of parliamentary exchanges and bilateral cooperation in light of a rapidly changing global environment. “The evolving global landscape calls for closer collaboration between our nations,” Sadiq remarked, praising Saudi Arabia for its historical, cultural, and religious ties with Pakistan.

Dr. Al Sheikh expressed gratitude for the warm reception and reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to fostering economic and parliamentary partnerships.

Broadening Cooperation
In a separate meeting with Senate Chairman Gilani, discussions focused on expanding institutional ties and exploring shared opportunities in trade, investment, and defense. Gilani acknowledged Saudi Arabia’s consistent support for Pakistan, calling the Shura Council delegation’s visit a “milestone” in the bilateral relationship.

“Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have always stood by each other in times of need, and this visit further solidifies our bond,” Gilani stated. He also encouraged Saudi investors to explore ventures in Pakistan to deepen economic collaboration.

Technological Assistance and Economic Development
The Saudi delegation expressed its willingness to provide technological assistance to Pakistan’s National Assembly, a move aimed at enhancing institutional efficiency and modernization.

Dr. Al Sheikh underscored the shared values of mutual trust and respect that form the foundation of the robust partnership between the two nations.

Focus on the Muslim Ummah
Both sides also discussed joint efforts to promote unity within the Muslim Ummah, reflecting their shared commitment to global Muslim solidarity.

The visit is expected to pave the way for new initiatives in trade, investment, and defense, further strengthening the strategic partnership between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
