Russia will continue its cooperation with Iran despite threats of military action and economic tariffs from the United States, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said, rejecting Washington’s attempts to pressure Tehran.
Responding to questions about US actions against Iran, Lavrov said Moscow would move forward with existing bilateral agreements, stressing that no outside power can influence the relationship between the two countries.
Speaking at a press conference in Moscow, Lavrov accused the United States of undermining the global order, saying its policies are accelerating international fragmentation and eroding its own credibility.
“Our American colleagues look unreliable when they act in this way,” Lavrov said.
He added that by abandoning principles it once championed, Washington is weakening the international framework built over decades.
“This and other actions in the international arena indicate the line of our American colleagues to break the entire system that has been created for many years with their participation,” said Lavrov.
According to the Russian foreign minister, the international order — along with the process of globalisation — has effectively been dismantled.
