LAHORE: The Punjab School Education Department has rejected a viral notification circulating on social media that falsely claimed all schools, colleges, and universities across the province would remain closed on Saturdays.
The fake document, dated October 28, 2025, suggested that students would receive a weekly holiday every Saturday, while teachers and administrative staff would get alternate Saturdays off. The alleged order quickly spread on various social media platforms, causing widespread confusion among parents, students, and teachers.
In an official statement, the School Education Department clarified that no such notification was issued and that the viral document was fabricated. Officials emphasized that schools will continue to follow the existing schedule and advised the public not to believe or circulate unverified information.
The department further urged citizens to verify any updates or announcements through official government websites or verified social media handles before sharing them online.
The spread of fake government notifications has become increasingly common, prompting authorities to issue regular warnings to curb misinformation and maintain public trust.
