Punjab Assembly lauds Pakistan–Saudi defense accord as a milestone in strengthening Islamic unity and national security.

The Punjab Assembly on Tuesday unanimously passed a resolution commending the historic defense agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, signed on June 17, 2025. The resolution, moved by Shagufta Faisal, hailed the accord as a milestone in enhancing strategic and defense cooperation between the two nations. Lawmakers praised Pakistan’s political and military leadership, highlighting that the country has been entrusted with the “sacred responsibility” of protecting the Two Holy Mosques.

The resolution described the accord as a “great honor” for Pakistan and reaffirmed the country’s central role as the only nuclear-armed Islamic state. It attributed Pakistan’s strengthened global standing to the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal General Asim Munir, emphasizing their efforts in bolstering defense diplomacy.

The Assembly also recalled the 1998 nuclear tests conducted under former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif as a defining moment that secured Pakistan’s defense and elevated its position in the Muslim world.

During the session chaired by Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan, several other legislative matters were discussed, including the presentation of the Punjab Emergency Service Amendment Bill 2025 and the Forest Amendment Bill 2025. Multiple education-related bills were also introduced and approved, including the Orient International University Bill 2025.

The proceedings concluded with Speaker Khan urging ministers to ensure timely replies during future sessions, while Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir assured prompt responses.
