Premier Imran Khan Acquitted by ATC in Parliament House Attack Case

August 31st 2014 – The workers of PAT and PTI both marched towards the Parliament House and Prime Minister House resulting in a heavy clash with the deployed Police Force on the Constitution Avenue. In 2014, Imran Khan the current Prime Minister of Pakistan was subjected in a case of Parliament House attack, an anti-terrorism court in Islamabad has acquitted the PM in the case. The announced verdict was given through the ATC Judge Raja Jawad Abbas Hassan.

Furthermore, the court decided that in the next hearing the summoned ministers; Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Pervez Khattak, Shafqat Mehmood and Asad Umar will be indicted. Jahangir Tareen, Aleem Khan and Shaukat Yousafzai are also summoned in the next hearing. Meanwhile the other party in the Islamabad Dharna, PAT was also a part of this case and the PAT worker Mubashir Ali was acquitted in the case, however, the chairman of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek; Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri was declared a fugitive.

The Statement

The statement of the application clearly stated that “the prosecution was not interested to prosecute the applicant [Imran Khan]”.

“The learned prosecutor appearing for the other side is heard and the learned prosecutor candidly conceded that in this false case the charge against the petitioner is groundless and there is no probability of the conviction and therefore, the learned prosecutor agreed that this is a fit case for acquittal.”

Furthermore, it continued to pen the following verse: “The applicant is maliciously implicated and dragged in this false case. Further proceedings shall cause harassment and political victimisation. Particularly, after the prosecution stands in favour of the acquittal of the applicant.”

The council gave their verdict as not a single evidence or witness was found against Imran Khan, the prosecution further exclaimed that no evidence direct or in-direct was found on records against the premier. August 31st was the day when Police has filed sections of Anti-Terrorism Act against the premier Imran Khan and other prominent leaders of PTI, including the current President, Dr Arif Alvi and a couple of federal ministers as well.

3 people were killed, 26 people were injured while 60 others were arrested. The 65 photos, sticks and cutters were presented to the court in order to establish the case presented by the prosecution.
