Visit Aims to Strengthen Bilateral Ties and Economic Cooperation

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will embark on a three-day official visit to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, March 19, to strengthen bilateral relations, boost economic cooperation, and attract investment between the two nations.

According to Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan, the prime minister will stay in the Kingdom from March 19 to March 22, during which he will hold high-level meetings with Saudi leadership.

Senior Officials to Accompany PM Shehbaz

The prime minister will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, along with key federal ministers and senior government officials. The delegation is expected to engage in diplomatic and economic discussions aimed at fostering long-term collaboration between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

Meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman

One of the key engagements during the visit will be PM Shehbaz’s meeting with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman. The two leaders will discuss expanding trade and investment opportunities while exploring cooperation in various sectors, including energy, infrastructure, and technology.

Additionally, the discussions will cover the Pakistan-Saudi economic partnership, with a focus on investment initiatives and joint ventures.

Focus on Regional and Global Developments

Apart from bilateral economic cooperation, regional and global issues will also be on the agenda. The leaders are expected to exchange views on the ongoing situation in the Middle East, particularly with an emphasis on the Palestinian crisis.

Pakistan has consistently voiced its support for Palestinian rights and advocated for an end to hostilities in the region. The discussions may also address broader security concerns, including stability in the Gulf region and global diplomatic efforts.

Strengthening Economic and Strategic Ties

Saudi Arabia has been a longstanding economic and strategic partner of Pakistan, providing financial assistance, oil supply on deferred payments, and direct investments in various sectors. The visit is expected to pave the way for new investment projects and enhanced economic collaboration between the two countries.

Significance of the Visit

This trip comes at a time when Pakistan is actively seeking foreign investments and economic partnerships to revitalize its economy. Saudi Arabia has expressed interest in increasing its investment footprint in Pakistan, particularly in energy, infrastructure, and development projects.

With high-level diplomatic engagement and trade discussions, the visit is expected to strengthen economic and political ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, opening avenues for future cooperation and collaboration.
