PM performs groundbreaking of Sukkur-Hyderabad motorway, says project to be completed in 30 months

The M6 motorway’s 306-kilometer Sukkur-Hyderabad portion received its official groundbreaking on Tuesday, according to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who also predicted that the project will be finished in 30 months.

Imran Khan, the country’s former prime minister, launched the project in April 2021 as a part of a “historic development package” for Sindh. It is estimated to cost Rs307 billion.

At today’s ceremony in Sukkur, the current prime minister, Shehbaz, spoke about the level of construction he expects. He stated, “I will accept something greater than other nation freeways in terms of quality, but nothing less.” I request that the entire project be supervised by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah to assure that quality is upheld and the project is finished on schedule, he continued.

The prime minister highlighted that the project’s quality should not be compromised, saying: “I have this tendency of showing up unexpectedly and assessing the quality. Call it a terrible habit or a good one, but I have it. I’ll go to inspect while carrying CM Shah. The project’s launch was credited to Sindh’s public-private partnership model, which the prime minister hoped to duplicate at the federal level. He gave former prime minister Mian Nawaz Sharif credit for establishing the framework for building the nation’s motorways.

Balochistan, the nation’s largest province, must be connected to other regions, according to PM Shehbaz. Balochistan is a crucial province in the nation, he said. “Balochistan’s development is essential for Pakistan’s success.” A case involving a land scam has been focused on the M6 highway between Sukkur and Hyderabad. The lengthy project has been in the news recently due to claims that local administrative authorities stole money intended to pay for its land.
