The defense ministry’s summary of the appointment of the Chief of Army Staff and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee was delivered to the prime minister’s office on Monday.
The news comes as the selection process for the next military chief has formally begun and as all of the current top generals prepare to retire.
The Pakistan Army and the federal government have agreed on the selection of the next chief of army staff and the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff committee, according to reports citing reliable sources. By November 29, the two posts are empty.
