PM Imran lauds heroic firefighter who died battling Chitral forest blaze

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday paid tribute to an official of Chitral's Forest Department, Jamshid Iqbal, who lost his life on August 19 while trying to put out a forest fire in the Chumurkun-Gole Protected Forest.

In a tweet on Saturday, the premier shared pictures of the fire fighting efforts in the Chitral division. The premier appreciated the services of the firefighters. He said: "These are our heroes protecting our forests for a green Pakistan."

Earlier in the year, a large wildfire had engulfed the forests of Mushkpuri, Birote Khurd and nearby Dunga Gali areas of Ayubia and Galyat in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), destroying a large number of trees.
