Shah Hussain Shah of Pakistan defeated a South African opponent in judoka to win bronze, giving Pakistan its first medal at the current Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2022 in Birmingham.

In the 90kg division, he competed against Thomas-Laszlo Breytnbach of South Africa. He lost the first round, but managed to win the next rounds.

Shah defeated his rival in just one minute, thirty seconds, earning the bronze.

He had previously taken home a silver medal at Glasgow’s 2014 Commonwealth Games. In addition, the Pakistani judoka won two gold medals in the South Asian Games.
