Pakistani and Qatari navies have successfully completed the Asad Al Bahr-III bilateral exercise in the North Arabian Sea, aimed at enhancing interoperability in the regional maritime domain, the Pakistan Navy announced on Monday, September 30, 2024.
The exercise featured Qatar’s Emiri Naval Ship AL KHOR alongside Pakistan Navy Ships SHAMSHEER and ASLAT. Key operations included maritime interdiction, search and rescue, and air defense exercises, according to the Directorate General Public Relations (DGPR) of the Pakistan Navy.
The primary goal of the exercise was to strengthen cooperation in addressing various maritime challenges in the region. The DGPR highlighted that the exercise not only improved interoperability but also expanded avenues for bilateral defense collaboration.
The Pakistan Navy emphasized that such joint exercises with regional navies demonstrate its commitment to addressing both traditional and non-traditional maritime threats, ensuring the safety and security of seafarers in the region.
