The Foreign Office announced on Thursday that Pakistan attacked terrorist hideouts within the Iranian border, a day after Tehran violated the country’s airspace and launched attacks in Balochistan.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the operation, codenamed ‘Marg Bar Sarmachar,’ was executed based on credible intelligence about impending large-scale terrorist activities by these groups.

The statement emphasized Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding its national security and protecting its citizens against threats. It highlighted the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces in successfully executing the operation.

While acknowledging Iran as a brotherly country, the Foreign Office asserted that the action was solely in pursuit of Pakistan’s security and national interest, respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Foreign Office announced the recall of its ambassador from Iran and the expulsion of the Iranian ambassador in response to what it deemed an illegal breach of Pakistan’s sovereignty.

The spokesperson condemned the violation of international law and UN Charter principles, holding Iran responsible for the consequences. Pakistan suspended ongoing and planned high-level visits between the two countries as a further measure.

The statement expressed Pakistan’s commitment to dialogue and cooperation with Iran to address common challenges, including terrorism. It concluded by reiterating Pakistan’s adherence to the principles of the UN Charter and its determination to protect sovereignty and territorial integrity.
