Dhaka: Pakistan and Bangladesh have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral defence and security collaboration, marking a renewed phase in military diplomacy between the two South Asian nations.

The discussions took place during separate meetings of Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza with Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus and top military officials in Dhaka.

Both sides exchanged views on the evolving global and regional security environment, with a particular focus on cooperation in training, strategic dialogue, and defence coordination.

General Mirza underscored Pakistan’s appreciation for its longstanding fraternal relations with Bangladesh, rooted in mutual respect, shared history, and sovereign equality. He expressed confidence that stronger defence ties would contribute to regional stability and shared security objectives.

The Bangladeshi leadership, in turn, lauded the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their significant contributions and sacrifices in combating terrorism.

During his visit, General Mirza also toured the School of Infantry and Tactics in Sylhet, where he interacted with faculty and students, discussing opportunities for training collaboration and knowledge exchange between the two militaries.

Both countries expressed optimism about expanding military-to-military engagement and joint initiatives in areas of strategic importance, reaffirming their mutual resolve to deepen defence cooperation in the years ahead.
