Mobile phone imports decrease over 68% in eight months

The import of mobile phones into the country has witnessed a decrease of 68.29 percent during the eight months of the current fiscal year (2022-23) as compared to the corresponding period of last year.

According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, Pakistan imported mobile phones worth US$ 447.855 million from July to February (2022–2023), down from US$ 1412.445 million from July to February (2021–2022), a fall of 68.29%. (PBS).

Meanwhile, on a year-to-year basis, the import of mobile phones also decreased by 76.73 percent during the month of February 2023 when compared to the same month of last year.

In contrast to February 2022’s $142.033 million in exports, February 2023 saw a $ 33.054 million increase in the country’s mobile device imports.

According to the data, the imports of mobile phones decreased by 36.39% month over month in February 2023 when compared to the imports of US $51.960 million in January 2023.
