Justice KK Agha officially took oath as a judge of the Federal Constitutional Court on Saturday, marking another significant step in the operationalisation of Pakistan’s newly established top constitutional forum.

The oath was administered by Chief Justice of the Federal Constitutional Court Justice Aminuddin Khan in a ceremony held at the Islamabad High Court. The event was attended by a distinguished gathering of judges, legal officers, and bar members.

Prominent judges present included Justice Aamir Farooq, Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi, and Justice Ali Baqir Najafi. Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Sardar Sarfaraz Dogar also attended along with several other sitting judges, showcasing strong judicial representation.

The president, secretary, and other office bearers of the Islamabad High Court Bar Association were also in attendance, reflecting active participation from the bar alongside the bench. The ceremony took place in the conference room of the Federal Constitutional Court.

High court judges Arbab Tahir, Azam Khan, Inam Amin Minhas, Khadim Soomro, and Muhammad Asif were also present, underlining the unified judicial presence at the event.

Just a day earlier, three judges — Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi, Justice Amir Farooq, and Justice Ali Baqar Najafi — had taken oath as judges of the Federal Constitutional Court. That ceremony, also administered by Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan, was attended by several senior judicial figures including Justice Arbab Tahir, Justice Khadim Soomro, Justice Muhammad Azam Khan, Justice Muhammad Asif, and Justice Inam Amin Minhas. Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan, Punjab Advocate General Amjad Pervez, and various law officers were also present.

However, five judges of the Islamabad High Court — Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri, Justice Babar Sattar, Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq, and Justice Saman Riffat — did not attend the earlier ceremony.

Earlier in the day, Justice Aminuddin Khan had been sworn in as the first chief justice of the Federal Constitutional Court in a ceremony attended by President Asif Ali Zardari, Field Marshal Asim Munir, federal ministers, and other dignitaries. The oath marked the formal launch of the court’s leadership under the newly formed constitutional framework.
