Lahore – 3 May 2025:
Peshawar Zalmi’s Director, Inzamam-ul-Haq, has explained the reason behind Babar Azam’s shift in the batting order during the ongoing 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Speaking at a post-match press conference, Inzamam praised Babar’s skill and strategic thinking, stating:
“Babar Azam is a world-class player. He himself decided to bat at number three instead of opening the innings for Peshawar Zalmi. Babar believed that letting Mitchell Owen open would allow the team to benefit from early power-hitting opportunities, increasing the scoring potential during the powerplay overs.”
Inzamam also touched upon the national implications of Babar’s evolving game:
“If Babar Azam improves his strike rate, it will benefit the entire Pakistan team.”
