KARACHI: The fifth edition of the International Textile and Leather Exhibition (TEXPO) 2024 commenced in Karachi on Wednesday, with participants from 52 countries attending to explore business opportunities and promote Pakistan’s textile and leather products globally. The event is organized by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan and runs from October 23 to 25 at the Karachi Expo Center.

Inaugurating the event, Pakistan’s Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi underscored the importance of Pakistan’s textile and leather sectors, which account for 60% of the country’s national exports. The exhibition provides a platform for local businesses to connect with international buyers, helping to bolster Pakistan’s export-driven economy.

“The quality of Pakistani products is world-class, and TEXPO highlights the industry’s ability to innovate and stay competitive globally,” said Commerce Minister Khan. He emphasized the importance of promoting high-value products, adhering to global standards of environmental sustainability, and increasing transparency in the export sector.

Khan also announced the establishment of a National Compliance Center aimed at supporting exporters in meeting international standards. He highlighted the industry’s commitment to clean energy practices and water conservation, expressing confidence in the sector’s future as “bright and sustainable.”

TEXPO 2024 features a diverse range of textile and leather products, with government officials optimistic that the event will significantly enhance Pakistan’s export potential in these key sectors.
