Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto arrived in Islamabad on Monday for a two-day official visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. This marks President Prabowo’s first-ever visit to Pakistan and carries special significance as it coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations, the Foreign Office (FO) stated.

The Indonesian president, accompanied by a high-level delegation including senior ministers and top officials, was warmly received at Nur Khan Airbase by PM Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari.

During the visit, President Prabowo will hold delegation-level discussions with Prime Minister Shehbaz, focusing on strengthening bilateral ties and exploring new opportunities for cooperation. He is also scheduled to meet President Asif Ali Zardari, Chief of Army Staff & Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, highlighting the strategic importance of the visit.

According to the FO, the two sides will engage in wide-ranging talks covering trade, investment, defence collaboration, health, information technology, climate action, education, culture, and enhanced regional and global cooperation.

Several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed, paving the way for deeper economic and strategic partnership.

The FO added that President Prabowo’s visit will help broaden and strengthen the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and Indonesia, contributing to future growth, mutual cooperation, and regional stability.
