Indonesia is likewise a most popular destination in Asia for visitors due to its gorgeous beaches, architectural marvels, rich cultural experiences, and outstanding cuisines.

The Indonesian government has developed an e-visa system that eliminates the inconveniences for individuals planning to visit the nation, and in this post, we will tell you what documents you will need and whether you are eligible for the e-visa.

2023 Indonesia e-visa

There are two types of tourist e-visas available for foreign tourists to Indonesia, depending on the length of their stay.

On-arrival e-visa for Indonesia (B213)

Visitors can stay in the country for a maximum of 30 days with this visa. It is also possible to obtain a 30-day extension of visa validity. The main disadvantage of this visa is that it cannot be converted into any other type of visa.

Single-entry e-visa for tourism in Indonesia (211A)

This visa is good for travelers who wish to completely immerse themselves in Indonesian culture because it permits a lengthier stay, up to a maximum of 60 days.

The disadvantage of this visa is that it cannot be extended beyond the initial 60-day period, however, it can be converted into other visa kinds if necessary. You can visit family or friends, visit the nation for tourism, and attend meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions as an attendee with this visa, but you cannot attend events as a speaker.

Countries eligible for an e-visa to Indonesia

Citizens of over 100 countries can obtain an e-visa to Indonesia. To check your eligibility based on your nationality, go to the Molina website and enter your country of origin to see if you are qualified for the visa.

Eligibility for an e-visa to Indonesia

To be eligible for an Indonesia e-visa, you must demonstrate that your visit will be only for tourism purposes. Furthermore, you must be financially secure in order to meet your own expenses throughout your vacation, and, last, you must comply with all visa rules and laws of the country.

Indonesia e-visa requirements

The most significant consideration is the prerequisites for obtaining an e-visa. Indonesian authorities enforce separate visa requirements for each visa category detailed below.

On-arrival e-visa for Indonesia (B213)

You must be able to provide the following documents upon arrival at the entry port:

  • Passport having a minimum validity period of six months
  • Return or onward flight ticket

Single-entry e-visa for tourism in Indonesia (211A)

As the visitor will be staying for a longer period of time, the application for this type of e-Visa requires additional papers. The following paperwork is required:

  • Flight ticket for the return/onward journey
  • Foreigners possessing travel papers must have a valid passport for at least 6 months or a valid travel document for at least 12 months.
  • Recent passport-size photos Financial proof for paying your stay in Indonesia of at least USD 2000, such as a personal bank statement covering the last three months, a recent paycheck slip, or time deposits.

How to Apply for an E-Visa to Indonesia

The application process for the two types of e-visas differs slightly. We’ve gone over the protocol for both categories.

Indonesia e-visa on arrival (B213)

Just log on to the Molina website and select the type of sight. Submit the relevant papers after filling out the information. You must also pay the price, and once it is completed, you will receive your e-VOA confirmation. Take a print of it and show it to an immigration officer at the entry point to obtain a visa sticker, according to Wigo.

Single-entry e-visa for tourism in Indonesia (211A)

Navigate to the Molina website and select the type of visa you require. Then you must create an account, enter your information, and submit it. If the e-visa is authorized, you will receive it through email after submitting the needed documents and paying.

Cost of an e-visa to Indonesia

The following are the rates for Indonesia e-visas based on category:

  • Indonesia e-visa on arrival costs IDR 500,000 (USD 33).
  • Single-entry e-visa for Indonesia tourists – IDR 1,500,000 (USD 100)

Payment can be made with a Mastercard, Visa, or JCB credit/debit card.

How long is the Indonesia e-visa valid?

The e-visa on arrival and the tourism single-entry e-visa will both be valid for 90 days from the date of issuing. It is worth noting that the visa’s validity differs from the term of stay, which is 30 days for e-visa on arrival and 60 days for tourist single-entry e-visa.

e-visa extension for Indonesia

Foreign visitors can extend their e-visa on arrival for another 30 days by using the Molina portal and following the procedures.

It should be noted that this extension can only be used once. To avoid penalties, it is required to leave the country before the extended visa’s expiration date.

E-visa Verification in Indonesia


There are two methods for verifying the validity of your Indonesia e-visa. To verify the validity of their visa, scan the QR codes on their e-visa document and click the pop-up link to the immigration website.

Another option is to go directly to the immigration website and enter your application number to check the status of your visa.
