The Gwadar Port Authority (GPA) launched on Friday an internship program for recent graduates to give Balochistan’s youth the skills they need for both ongoing and future developments.

This program will be administered under the National Development Internship Program (NDIP), and it will be a special opportunity for recent graduates or holders of diplomas to get the skills necessary for better positions and a variety of projects.

The sources claimed that under this program, young engineers would be employed on two projects that involved installing a 1.2 Mg ROD (Reverse Osmosis Desalination) Plant and Sewage Treatment Plant in GPA Housing Complex in Gwadar in collaboration with Gwadar Port Authority, Ministry of Maritime Affairs, and Planning Commission.

It has been reported by the sources that recent graduates who reside in Balochistan and are under 30 years old are eligible to enroll in the internship program. Ten students (five for each project) will be chosen for the internship programs, which will last one year.

The source added that Sewage Treatment Plant for GPA Housing Complex Gwadar was another significant project of Gwadar for which the federal government had allocated 51.89 million rupees in the budget of the financial year 2022–23. The 1.2 MGDRO development Plant is being set up with a Chinese grant of approximately $12.7 million to purify seawater and supply it to the people of Gwadar city.

The source further said that Gwadar Port Authority was a body for the construction, operation, management, and maintenance of Gwadar Deep Water Port.
