Govt to impose FED on business tickets of international airlines

The federal government is likely to impose Federal Excise Duty (FED) on the business class tickets of international airlines.

According to sources that 17 percent of FED will be charged to travelers with business class tickets traveling both incoming and outgoing.

They have been told of this choice by the federal government team that is negotiating with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Sources added that Rs 50,000 will increase in international flight tickets in the form of FED. The official decision will be made after the government’s final direction.

Airlines fares surge after Govt Imposes Super Tax

Previous until now, the cost of traveling abroad increased as a result of the alliance government’s imposition of a 10 percent direct tax in the form of a “super tax.”

To address the country’s economic problems, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif slapped a 10 percent super-tax on the nation’s major industries and manufacturers.

The prime minister, while announcing the tough decisions in the wake of the ongoing economic situation, said that industries related to steel, cement, sugar, oil and gas, fertilizers, energy and terminal, and textile will face a 10 percent tax.
