The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday released an updated list of 166 registered political parties, reflecting recent changes in leadership for several major political groups. The list includes updates for parties such as the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Jamaat-e-Islami, where the ECP has recognized their internal elections and updated the names of their presidents or chairpersons.
Notably, the ECP did not update the name of the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
In the updated list, Mian Nawaz Sharif is recognized as the President of PML-N, while Naeem-ur-Rehman Khan is listed as the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami.
Additionally, Mehmood Khan has been listed as the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentarian. The list also confirms Asif Ali Zardari as the President of the Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians, and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari as the Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party. Asfandiar Wali Khan continues to be listed as the President of the Awami National Party.
