The Cabinet’s Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) approved Rs261 million for the construction of the Railway Underpass Jahanian, District Khanewal.

The monies were agreed upon at an ECC meeting presided over by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on a report moved by the Ministry of Housing and Works.

The meeting was informed that the Ministry of Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives approved an additional allocation of funds totaling Rs261 million for the development scheme “Construction of Railway Underpass Jahanian, District Khanewal” being carried out by the Ministry of Housing and Works during the current fiscal year via a technical supplementary grant (TSG).

The Ministry of Planning and Development and Special Initiatives has consequently surrendered Rs261 million in favor of the Ministry of Housing and Works in order to obtain TSG of an equal amount via a surrender order dated 28 March 2023.

The Finance Division was asked to give their approval, which they did on April 3, 2023, and urged this ministry to send a summary to the ECC for approval.

As a result, the ECC’s consent is sought for the allocation of additional funds of Rs261 million via TSG to the capital outlay on civil works for the current fiscal year (2022-23) for the execution of the stated development programme.
