In the coming months, consumers will pay capacity charges of more than Rs124 billion for excess electricity generation during the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2022-23.

The XWDISCOs are asking the regulator for permission to recoup capacity charges and other fees from users.

According to official estimates, the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) planned to recover the most money from consumers for capacity payments, at Rs28.906 billion, followed by Multan Electric Supply Company (MEPCO) at Rs22.634 billion, FESCO at Rs21.170 billion, and GEPCO at Rs13.891 billion.

Furthermore, Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) would recover Rs7.554 billion in capacity charges from consumers, while Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) would recover Rs8.024 billion, Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) would recover Rs6.794 billion, Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) would recover Rs6.042 billion, Sukkur Electric Supply Company (SEPCO) would recover Rs5.816 billion, and Tribal Electric Supply Company (TESCO) would recover Rs3.469 billion.

Furthermore, Rs7.542 billion in variable operation and maintenance included Rs1.096 billion from FESCI, Rs797 million from GEPCO, Rs351 million from HESCO, Rs439 million from IESCO, Rs1.798 billion from LESCO, Rs1.401 billion from MEPCO, Rs935 million from PESCI, Rs388 million from QESCI, and Rs87 million from TESCO.

The financial cost of Rs14.358 billion included FESCO’s Rs2.320 billion, GEPCO’s Rs1.573 billion, HESCO’s Rs950 million, IESCO’s Rs870 million, LESCO’s Rs3.236 billion, MEPCO’s Rs2.622 billion, QESCO’s Rs715 million, SEPCO’s Rs654 million, and TESCO’s Rs448 million.

The transmission and distribution impact on monthly fuel charges adjustment (FCA) was Rs7.253 billion, which included Rs751 million from FESCO, Rs509 million from GEPCO, Rs604 million from HESCO, Rs741 million from IESCO, Rs1.060 billion from LESCO, Rs1.298 billion from MEPCO, Rs1.411 billion from PESCO, Rs437 million from QESCO, Rs383 million from SEPCO, and Rs59 million from TESCO.
