General Qamar Javed Bajwa, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), has arrived in the US for a week-long official visit in order to meet with key members of the Biden Administration.

On Friday, he and his senior advisers travelled from London to LaGuardia Airport in New York on an official aircraft.

In this regard, Masood Khan, the Pakistani Ambassador to the United States, verified Bajwa’s entry in the country without providing any information regarding his journey. Official gatherings are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday in the meantime.

According to reports, he will meet with Lloyd Austin, director of national intelligence, Avril D. Haines, and William J. Burns, director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

Additionally, Pakistani officials are attempting to schedule his meeting with Antony Blinken, the US Secretary of State. On Wednesday, he will also meet with experts and scholars who are interested in Pakistani affairs.

Additionally, COAS Bajwa spoke with General Birame Diop, the military advisor to the UN, and they discussed a number of topics, including regional security, according to information released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Sunday.

Note that COAS Bajwa’s last visit to the US was in 2019 during former Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan’s three-day visit to Washington, DC.
