LAHORE – May 8, 2025:
The British Council has cancelled all Thursday afternoon exams scheduled in Lahore, including GCE O-Level and A-Level, IGCSE, IELTS, and University of London papers, in response to escalating security concerns following a reported explosion on Walton Road.

The decision, taken in coordination with international exam boards such as Cambridge, Edexcel, and OxfordAQA, affects only Lahore-based candidates and does not extend to examination centres in other cities across Pakistan.

“This decision prioritises the safety and security of all candidates,” the British Council said in an official statement released early Thursday morning. Parents and students were promptly notified not to send children for the day’s scheduled exams.

Lahore remains on high alert, with authorities intensifying security measures across the city.

The British Council emphasized that students should only rely on official communication channels for information regarding rescheduling and future exam updates. School-based candidates are advised to stay in close contact with their respective institutions, while private candidates can reach out to British Council customer service for assistance.

The council has not provided a revised timetable for the affected exams but assured candidates that updates will be shared in due course.
