Australia continued their dominance in the ODI series against India, clinching the second match by two wickets at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday to seal the series 2–0.
India, opting to bat first, put up a competitive total of 264 for nine in 50 overs. Rohit Sharma anchored the innings with a patient 73 off 97 balls, while Shreyas Iyer supported with a fluent 61. Axar Patel contributed a valuable 44 in the lower order to push India past the 260 mark.
Australia’s bowling attack, led by Adam Zampa, kept the Indian batsmen in check. Zampa finished with impressive figures of 4 for 60, while Xavier Bartlett picked up 3 for 39, including the key wicket of Sharma.
In response, Australia’s top and middle order showed resilience under pressure. Matthew Short provided early stability with 74 runs, while Mitchell Owen chipped in with a brisk 36. The hero of the match was Cooper Connolly, who remained unbeaten on 61, steering Australia to victory in 46.2 overs despite late wickets.
For India, Arshdeep Singh and Washington Sundar managed two wickets apiece, but the bowlers struggled to maintain consistent pressure in the closing stages.
With this win, Australia secured the series and extended their unbeaten run, while India will aim for a morale-boosting win in the final ODI to avoid a clean sweep.
