In a heroic act, a 29-year-old security guard named Abdullah intervened to save an 11-year-old girl from a knife attack in central London on Monday.

The incident occurred in Leicester Square, a popular area for tourists and shoppers. Abdullah, who works at a nearby store, heard a scream and quickly noticed a man attacking the young girl with a knife.

“I jumped on him, held the hand with the knife, and put him down on the floor,” Abdullah recounted. “A few more people joined in, and we held him until the police arrived.”

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that a 32-year-old man was arrested at the scene. The girl sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital, where she is expected to recover. Her 34-year-old mother also suffered minor injuries during the attack.

Detective Chief Superintendent Christina Jessah stated that an urgent investigation is underway to determine the details of the incident. She noted that there is no indication the attack was terror-related, and the suspect and victims did not appear to know each other.

The attack comes just two weeks after a tragic knife attack in Southport, northwest England, where three girls were killed and several others injured.

The swift actions of Abdullah and others at the scene helped prevent further harm, ensuring the safety of the young victim until authorities arrived.
