Emirates Passengers to Use Mobile Boarding Pass from May 15

Emirates has announced that it will require most passengers departing Dubai to use a mobile boarding pass instead of a printed paper version, starting from 15 May. The move is part of the airline’s ongoing efforts to reduce paper waste while providing a convenient and speedy digitised check-in experience for passengers.

How to use Mobile Boarding Pass?

Passengers checking in at Terminal 3 will receive their mobile boarding pass via email or SMS. Alternatively, those who check in online can load their boarding pass into their Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, or retrieve their boarding pass using the Emirates App. The checked-in baggage receipt will also be emailed directly to passengers, or available in the Emirates App.

Benefits of Mobile Boarding Pass

Using a mobile boarding pass significantly reduces the risk of lost or misplaced boarding passes, providing peace of mind for passengers when travelling. Moreover, it can be used throughout the travel journey – in Dubai Duty Free, at security and for boarding – by simply showing the boarding pass on the phone. Emirates agents and airport staff will scan the QR code on the mobile boarding pass as passengers move through the airport and onto the aircraft.

More Information about Mobile Boarding Pass

While most passengers will be required to use a mobile boarding pass, some exceptions apply. Passengers travelling with infants, unaccompanied minors, those requiring special assistance, those with onward flights on other airlines, and all passengers travelling on flights to the US may still need a physical boarding pass to be printed.

The option to print a boarding pass is available upon request to Emirates agents at check-in counters for passengers who do not have a mobile device, or who are unable to access the information on their devices due to reasons such as battery power, a system breakdown or glitch, message delivery delay, or inability to access WIFI, network, or a data package.

Emirates has been offering digitally enabled journeys for millions of passengers, providing convenient check-in and itinerary management. Those who use the Emirates App can access digital menus in advance, curate a playlist of favourite movies, TV shows, and music playlists available on ice, which they can synchronise from their app upon boarding, saving time. The move towards a digital boarding pass is expected to further enhance the passenger experience while reducing paper waste.
