Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has reiterated that the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) is ready to hold unconditional talks with the opposition.

He claimed that President Dr. Arif Alvi is attempting to assist the talks while speaking to the media in Lahore on Saturday.  He said that the practice of filing false cases against political opponents should be shunned.   He asserted that the merits of the cases brought against PDM leaders are being considered.

According to the interior minister, the PTI leadership should also apologize after the British publication Daily Mail apologized for publishing false information about Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He claimed that the PTI leadership is hell-bent on destroying the nation in order to secure its political position.

According to Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, the army is an organized institution, and decisions about policy are decided at the institutional level rather than at the individual level.

Sanaullah stated that the army’s decision to remain “apolitical” was made by the institution, and he hoped that it would uphold its commitment.

During a media discussion in Lahore, he used the names of the former and present army leaders as an example and claimed that “the army is an organized institution where an individual’s policy isn’t implemented.”

He emphasized that the institution had decided that the army will remain “apolitical” since it adheres to the institution’s policy.

Govt-opposition talks

Sanaullah stated that the government is prepared for “unconditional talks” when referring to the discussions between the current administration and the opposition. The president, Dr. Arif Alvi, is attempting to mediate between the two groups, he continued.

The minister claimed that Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Fawad Chaudhry, Parvez Khattak, and Asad Qaiser had all attempted to accomplish this in the past, but Imran Khan disregarded their advice.

In response to a question regarding PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif’s return, the interior minister stated that the party had asked for him to participate in the upcoming election campaign, and the former prime minister had agreed.

‘Govt’s cases being closed after litigation’

Sanaullah continued by claiming that Shaukat Tarin, a former finance minister, “spoke about sabotaging” the International Monetary Fund (IMF) program in the allegedly leaked audio.

He claimed that because they lacked the necessary authority, they were determined to wreck the nation’s economy.

He questioned, “Why shouldn’t the cases against the coalition government members be closed when they are being closed following litigation?

He claimed that the newspaper made that mistake at former federal minister Shahzad Akbar’s behest.

“Imran Khan leveled false allegations against others while he himself was involved in this corruption,” the minister said, adding that they should also apologize to the nation for false cases.
