ISLAMABAD: Youm-e-Takbeer is being observed on Saturday with national zeal and fervor to commemorate the historic nuclear tests at Chaghi in 1998.
The theme for the day this year is “Na Jhuky thay na Jhuken gay.”
History of Youm-e-Takbeer
Youm-e-Takbir means The day of greatness. It is celebrated as a national day in Pakistan on May 28 in commemoration of Chagai-I and Chagai-II series of nuclear tests. Pakistan became the world’s seventh nuclear power with a demonstration of nuclear capabilities on this day, and the first in the Muslim world, After conducting nuclear tests at Chaghai in Balochistan on May 28, 1998, in response to India’s nuclear bomb tests at Pokhran in the Rajasthan state of India on May 11th and 13th of the same year.
Abdul Qadeer Khan
Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan is a famous Pakistani nuclear scientist and a metallurgical engineer. He is widely regarded as the founder of gas-centrifuge enrichment technology for Pakistan’s nuclear deterrent program. Pakistan’s nuclear weapons program is a source of extreme national pride. As its “father”, A.Q. Khan, who headed Pakistan’s nuclear program for some 25 years, is considered a national hero.
Pakistan’s defense has become invincible as a result of the successful testing.
In the morning, special prayers were said for Pakistan’s progress and prosperity, the supremacy of the constitution, and the abolition of terrorism.
In addition, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has released a national song in this regard, to emphasize the significance of this day.
Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister, has previously announced a ten-day celebration to mark the end of 24 years of nuclear testing.
