Pakistan is commemorating Defense Day today, paying respect to the country’s military services martyrs who gave their lives on September 6, 1965, to preserve their nation. The country reiterated its determination to protect itself against any threats.

The theme for this year’s Defense and Martyrs’ Day is “Our martyrs, our pride, a homage to all the relatives of ghazis and Shaheeds.”

A change of guard ceremony was also performed at the Quaid’s tomb to commemorate Defense Day, during which cadets from the PAF Asghar Khan Academy undertook ceremonial guard responsibilities at the monument.

The day started with a 31-gun salute in Islamabad and a 21-gun salute in each province’s capital.
