SCO provided basic services to residents of the small village Shimshal located 11,000 feet above sea level. The Special Communications Organization (SCO) has introduced 4G internet services in the village of Shimshal in Gilgit-Baltistan. The Karakoram Highway is 55 kilometres from Shimshal, a border settlement on the border of Pakistan and China. Due to its remoteness, residents find it difficult to access amenities.

Residents had previously had to travel five hours to Hunza for communications and medical attention. The availability of internet connections in the area has recently connected the people of Shimshal with the rest of the world, which will now assist students who can participate in distance learning and online education.SCO aimed to provide basic services to residents living in remote areas of Gilgit-Baltistan. He had already implemented Shifa telemedicine in the region, enabling the local community to communicate with 6,000 doctors across Pakistan.
