Islamabad – 14 May 2025:
In a significant boost for Islamabad United, the franchise has announced the return of South African batter Rassie van der Dussen for the remaining matches of the tenth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL X). Van der Dussen, who had previously played for Lahore Qalandars during the 2024 season, will now be rejoining Islamabad United, a team he had represented in 2023. The franchise expressed full confidence in his abilities, cheerfully announcing: “Woh Aa Raha Hai!! Rassie van der Dussen is back.”
Van der Dussen’s return to the Islamabad camp adds strength to the side as they prepare for the crucial fixtures in the ongoing PSL season.
Along with van der Dussen, English cricketer Alex Hales has also confirmed his availability for the remaining matches of PSL X, which is set to resume on May 17, 2025. Hales, who previously played for Islamabad United, expressed his excitement, stating, “Islamabad United was my first PSL team. The fans and franchise have always supported me, and I’m thrilled to return to Pakistan to play again.”
The franchise is actively working to bring back its overseas players as preparations for the remaining PSL fixtures continue. The return of Hales and van der Dussen is part of Islamabad United’s strategy to strengthen their squad and increase their chances of success in the final matches of the tournament.
Earlier, David Warner and Ben McDermott of Karachi Kings also confirmed their return to Pakistan for the rest of the tournament, signaling a positive trend of international players making their way back for the PSL’s conclusion.
Meanwhile, James Vince and Mohammad Nabi have also agreed to return, although their arrival is subject to the issuance of NOCs (No Objection Certificates) and visas. However, the returns of Kane Williamson and Tim Seifert appear unlikely at this stage.
