The Supreme Court of Pakistan has scheduled hearings for appeals challenging the restoration of bail for the PTI founder and the annulment of his physical remand related to the May 9 riots.

Hearing Scheduled for February 27

A three-member bench, led by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, will preside over the hearings on February 27. The bench also includes Justice Shafi Siddiqui and Justice Gul Hassan Aurangzeb.

In addition to reviewing the PTI founder’s bail status, the Punjab government’s appeals seeking the cancellation of bail for other individuals accused in the May 9 incidents will also be addressed.

Punjab Government’s Stance

The Punjab government had previously filed appeals, arguing that the bail granted to multiple individuals involved in the riots should be revoked. The upcoming hearing will determine whether the bail decisions remain intact or are overturned.

The May 9 riots, which led to widespread arrests and legal actions, remain a pivotal issue in Pakistan’s political and judicial landscape, with the outcome of these hearings likely to have significant implications.
