Shaheen Shah Afridi delivered an outstanding game in the Test series between Pakistan and the West Indies in Jamaica earlier this month, becoming the highest wicket-taker in the Test format in 2021 thus far.

Shaheen has been nominated for the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s Player of the Month award as a result of his outstanding effort.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has declared the nominees for the month-to-month men’s accolades for this month, which include Pakistan’s Shaheen Shah Afridi, India’s Jasprit Bumrah, and England’s Joe Root, whereas Thailand’s Nattaya Boochatham, Gaby Lewis, and Eimer Richardson from Ireland are on the women’s checklist.

Shaheen took 18 wickets in the Test series against the West Indies, propelling him to the top of the Test rankings in 2021. Following his strong performance in the series against the West Indies, the bowler achieved a career-high ICC Test ranking.

During the second Test match, he was instrumental in dismantling the West Indies batting in both innings, taking 10 wickets in the process.

The left-arm pacer has climbed ten places to No. 8 in the MRF ICC Test bowler standings. Shaheen was ranked 18th among bowlers prior to the start of the Test.

The ICC Gamer of the Months awards, introduced in January this year, began honoring the finest international performances throughout forms for male and female performers.
