Rawalpindi’s Green Bus Service Expands With Two New Routes to Ease Commuter Woes
The Rawalpindi district administration has begun operations on additional routes for the Green Bus Service, aiming to improve public transportation options for residents across the city. The expansion comes as part of ongoing efforts to make commuting more convenient for the twin cities’ large population of daily travellers.
A New Alignment for Route No. 2
According to the administration, Route No. 2 has been made operational under a revised alignment, implemented on the directives of the district’s deputy commissioner. The updated route will now run from Fawara Chowk to Korang Chowk, passing through Kacheri Chowk along the way under the new configuration.
This isn’t a minor tweak either. The expanded route has been designed to cover several key locations across Rawalpindi, including Gawalmandi, Liaquat Bagh, Mareer Chowk, Punjab House, Fatima Jinnah Women University, Jinnah Park, Jhanda Chichi, and Rehmatabad. That’s a fairly wide geographic spread, touching commercial hubs, residential neighbourhoods, and an educational institution all within a single route, which suggests the alignment was planned with an eye toward maximising the number of daily commuters who could realistically benefit from it.
