The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially announced that upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches will be hosted at the scenic Muzaffarabad Cricket Stadium in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). The decision was revealed by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi during the PSL roadshow at the prestigious Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.
Naqvi confirmed that the PCB has initiated a comprehensive plan to prepare the Muzaffarabad venue to international standards. “We are going to develop the Muzaffarabad cricket stadium in the best possible way,” he said, emphasising the board’s commitment to expanding high-quality cricketing infrastructure across the country.
He highlighted that Muzaffarabad already provides premium facilities, including five-star accommodations suitable for international players and officials — a key requirement for hosting major events.
Naqvi also revealed that the move goes beyond PSL fixtures. “Along with PSL matches, other international matches will also be hosted in Azad Jammu and Kashmir,” he added, signalling a broader strategy to introduce global cricket to the region.
While the PCB chairman did not specify the number of PSL matches set to be allocated to Muzaffarabad, the development has been widely welcomed by fans who see this as a major boost for cricket in AJK.
The PSL, launched in 2016 with five franchises, is on the brink of a major transformation. From its 11th edition next year, two new teams will be added, expanding the league to eight franchises — its first structural expansion in seven years.
The inclusion of Muzaffarabad as a host venue marks a significant milestone in Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to decentralise cricket and elevate new regions, strengthening its appeal both nationally and globally.
